Materials/Construction
Shell: Soft moulded foam with an inside steel construction.
Base Construction: Plywood legs section connected with solid oak top parts which are glued and fixed with embedded metal brackets.
Base Finish: Moulded plywood base. Inner plywood in beech, top veneer in water-based (eco-friendly) lacquered oak, black lacquered oak or soaped oak.
Among HAY's ongoing initiatives to reduce their ecological footprint, is the introduction of water-based lacquer on a selection of their wooden furniture. HAY are therefore pleased to announce that as of 15 January 2021, they will be upgrading their current PU lacquer with a more eco-friendly water-based lacquer and FSC wood. The differences in physical properties are negligible, with the new water-based lacquer matching the minimum strength of the current lacquer and with indistinguishable visible differences. However, the environmental benefits are clear – the new lacquer does not contain any harmful substances and is used on FSC wood sourced from sustainable forests. The lacquer fulfils all the EU Ecolabel requirements.
This chair is currently available in the following fabrics and leathers - a small selection of which are shown on the product listing. Upholstery is grouped by number 1-6; the higher the number the greater the cost. Please get in touch for a bespoke quote if you would like a fabric listed here but not available to buy online.
