Designed by Jasper Morrison for Vitra, the Plate Dining Table reflects his 'Super Normal' design philosophy. Jasper Morrison explains: 'The objects that perform best do so not because they look beautiful or valuable but because they have the essential code of being good at what they are.' Finely balanced proportions and the subtle interplay of planes and curves give the Plate Dining Table an unassuming, refined appearance that can be complemented by a wide variety of chairs, both contemporary and classic.

The tapered legs with a quarter-circle profile and the slender frame adhere to the principle of efficient use of materials: as much as necessary, as little as possible. Despite the minimum use of materials, the table's sturdy structure ensures its stability whilst offering a compact modern look. This lends the table a refined, graceful silhouette. Constructed from a sturdy slender frame in powder-coated die-cast aluminium with a tabletop in a choice of solid oak, glass or marble finishes, the Plate Dining Table is a robust yet timeless piece of furniture.

    Jasper Morrison

Jasper Morrison is one of Britain’s most successful and well-renowned industrial designers. He is best known for a design approach that makes hard-working products appear aesthetically quiet. Together with his colleague Naoto Fukasawa, he coined the term 'super normal’ - it means a good example of understated, useful and responsible design. To Morrison, it answers the question of what ‘good design’ really should be.

Born in London in 1959, Jasper received his bachelor of design degree from Kingston School of Art in 1982, and his master's degree in design from the Royal College of Art in 1985. In 1984 he received a Berlin scholarship to study in Germany at the Hochschule der Künste. Morrison opened his...
