Designed by Frama Studio, The Chair 01 is inspired by the stackable chairs commonly found in Nordic churches since the early 20th century. Originating in the UK before being imported to Scandinavia, the round-nosed wooden stacking chair epitomises the democratic ideals that defined modern design.
With the introduction of the highly versatile Chair 01, Frama has endeavoured to capture this democratic spirit by creating a useful object that is at home in a wide range of residential and commercial interiors. Constructed with premium-grade and locally sourced Baltic Birch, the joints of Chair 01 are intentionally left exposed as an expression of the chair's traditional method of production. Finished with organic hard wax and oils, each chair is intended to develop a naturally unique wood patina as it ages.
Defined by a geometric silhouette and a series of stark linear planes, The Chair 01 is a picture of simplicity. This is a direct consequence of the chair's archetypical construction which has not only imparted the seat with its distinct aesthetic but also makes it reliably sturdy. Entirely made from solid birch wood and birch plywood, the chair is durable and it ensures a natural look and feel. The chair will pair well with the Frama Bench 01, sharing typologies and a consistent seating height.
